Community Comes Together for EPIC Center’s Walk 4 Life & 5K, Raising Over $14,000 to Support Women and Families
More than 230 people gathered on Saturday morning at Lenoir Community College for the EPIC Center’s annual Walk 4 Life & 5K, creating a meaningful and joy-filled day in support of women and families across Eastern North Carolina.
From early morning runners to families pushing strollers and cheering along the route, the event was a true celebration of life and community. Participants of all ages came together, enjoying a morning filled with encouragement, connection, and fun.
A highlight of the day was the incredible participation from local teams. The Boundless Boots, led by Louise Jones, took home the Largest Team Award with 31 members, while Kinston First PH Church earned second place with 21 participants.
The spirit of generosity was just as evident. The Rose Brothers were recognized as the top fundraising team, raising nearly $1,000 to support the EPIC Center’s mission of empowering women to choose life and walking alongside families in need.
Runners also gave it their all on the course. Amanda White finished as the top overall female, followed by Riley Tyndall in second place and Jessie Britt in third. On the men’s side, Colt Mann earned first place, with Caleb Rigsby taking second and Thad Taylor finishing third.
The event raised over $14,000 after expenses, funds that will go directly toward providing free services such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting education, and essential baby supplies for families in the region.
“This morning was just really special,” said Emma Barnes, Executive Director of the EPIC Center. “Seeing so many people show up, families, friends, churches, teams, reminds us that no one has to walk through an unplanned pregnancy alone. We are so thankful for every person who came out, gave, and supported this mission. You are truly making a difference in the lives of women and families right here in our community.”
The EPIC Center also extends heartfelt thanks to its Champion for Life sponsors: 902 Church, Injoy Thrift Store, Emmanuel Baptist Church, and the Family of Ruby S. Griffin, for their generous support and commitment to making this event possible.
The Walk 4 Life & 5K continues to be a powerful way to bring the community together, raise awareness, and support the EPIC Center’s mission to empower women and strengthen families throughout Eastern North Carolina.
