Obituary: Carol Evangeline Price Ham
Carol Evangeline Price Ham, 92 was born April 5, 1933, in Seven Springs, NC to Ike and Celia Price. She graduated from Moss Hill High School. She began her Christian walk as a child at Zion United Methodist Church where she later went on to play the piano.
Both Music and faith were a huge part of her life. She was an original member of the gospel group, The Harmony Quartet, alongside her husband for many years. She was married to her husband Lee “Shine” Ham for 72 years.
They had three children Deborah, Mike and Craig. She began her career working at Foxman’s Department Store in Downtown Kinston, later working at Safeway Finance Company for 19 years. She continued working as a bookkeeper for the Piggly Wiggly Stores for 30 years, where she later retired. She was member of the Neuse Baptist Church for over 50 years, as well as Webb’s Chapel Church. She was the Choir Director, piano player and Sunday School Teacher at both churches. She was an active member of the Lenoir County Shrinettes for over 40 years. She will be remembered for her undying faith, love of family and music.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Celia Price. Her sisters Maxine Price Barwick, Annie Price Philips, Elsie Price Moye and an infant brother. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Lee “Shine” Ham, son, Mike Ham, grandson-in-law Mike Surcy and infant grandson, Adam Michael Ham.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah and Mac Daughety, son, Craig and Marla Ham all of Kinston. Grandchildren Leigh Daughety Surcy, Kari and Rock Racobaldo, Jenni and Ryan Bennett, Sarah and Caleb Avery. Great grandchildren Richie, Jackson, and Eliana Racobaldo, as well as Allie and Mattie Bennett.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Ham officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Private entombment will be at a later date.
