Obituary: Betty Wade Snead
Ms. Betty Wade Snead, age 82, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
A native of Greene County, Betty was born on November 15, 1943, to the late John Robert and Pearlie Wade. Raised in the Ormondsville Community, she was a graduate of the former Hookerton High School.
Betty dedicated over 28 years of service to UNC Health Lenoir (formerly Lenoir Memorial Hospital), working in the billing and insurance department. Following her initial retirement, she became a familiar and welcoming face at Spring Arbor of Kinston, where she served as a receptionist for more than a decade before fully retiring in 2020.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeffrey Gordon Wade, Robert Lee “Bobby” Wade, and Harvey Wade.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Wendy Snead Wessell and husband Kenneth of Pikeville, and Sandy Snead and husband Duy Huynh of Charlotte; grandchildren, Lauren Wessell Williams and husband Sean of Charleston, South Carolina, and Jackson Kenneth Wessell of Pikeville; a brother, Billy Ray Wade and wife Deborah of Ormondsville; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Wade of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21st, from 4 – 6 PM at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service in Snow Hill.
