Kinston native Shelia T. Solomon named Women Techmakers ambassador

Kinston native Shelia T. Solomon has been named a Women Techmakers ambassador in the 2026 Technovation cohort, according to a news release.

Solomon, founder of PhreshVu and CEO of Atlanta-based Sunshine Technology International LLC, credits her hometown with helping shape a technology career spanning more than four decades.

“Kinston gave me my earliest foundations, and no matter how far my technology work expands globally, my roots remain firmly planted in Lenoir County,” Solomon wrote.

According to the release, Solomon joins more than 500 ambassadors worldwide working to expand artificial intelligence literacy, provide mentorship and increase access to technology for women.

Her computing experience stretches from punch cards and assembler code in the 1980s to developing platforms that incorporate AI today. She founded her first company, SST Automations Unlimited, in 1990. Her career has included work in desktop publishing, commercial inspections, mortgage loan closings and customer service.

Solomon now leads PhreshVu, which she describes as a platform designed to help women navigating life transitions preserve, share and earn income from their knowledge and experiences.

“I didn’t come to this table by accident,” Solomon said in the release. “I know the fear of the screen, and I know the peace of conquering it. That’s exactly why I’m passionate about demystifying this space for other women.”

As an ambassador, Solomon plans to support AI education, mentorship across generations and efforts to help communities shape their use of technology. Those activities will accompany her work with PhreshVu, including live classes, speaking engagements and community content, according to the release.

Solomon said she hopes sharing the milestone with readers in her hometown will show where a journey beginning in Kinston can lead.
