SBI UPDATE: Man shot by Greene County Deputy following crash has died, authorities confirm

North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation:

The Greene County Sheriff's Office requested the NC State Bureau of Investigation for assistance with a series of events yesterday near Maury Correctional Institution. The incident began around 11:20 a.m. As a result, the SBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting.

SBI crime scene agents and agents from our Capital and Northeastern Districts have been collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

We are now confirming that the citizen who was shot is deceased. He has been taken to the NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
