Greene County deputy shoots armed man holding woman against her will following crash, SBI investigating
On 10/15/2026 around 11:20 am, Greene County Deputies responded to a two vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Moore Rouse Rd, near Maury Correctional.
While enroute Deputies were advised that the male driver of one of the vehicles was attempting to harm himself. Upon arrival Deputies found a male and female in one vehicle with the male subject holding a weapon on the female refusing to let her leave the vehicle.
Deputies attempted to get the male to drop the weapon and let the female go, however the male refused to cooperate. One Deputy was able to make a safe shot and did so allowing the female to safely exit the vehicle. Neither the female nor the Deputies were injured from the incident.
The condition of the male subject will be updated once the family has been notified properly. The other vehicle involved in the crash was a DAC K9 unit.
Both the Officer and the K9 were medically evaluated. DAC will have to comment as to their condition. As with all officer involved shooting incidents, the NC SBI was contacted to investigate.
