Sentencing Update: Two Plead Guilty to Providing Contraband to Inmates
Shaniqua Reed, 37, of Magnolia, and LaDarius Hines, 26, of Kinston, each appeared in Lenoir County Superior Court today, where they pleaded guilty to one felony count of Providing Contraband to Inmates.
As a result of their guilty pleas, both Reed and Hines were sentenced to 5 to 15 months imprisonment, suspended, and placed on 24 months of supervised probation.
Reed and Hines were previously arrested following a joint investigation conducted by Lenoir County Jail administration officials and the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division. At the time of the investigation, Reed was employed as a medical technician at the jail, and Hines was employed as a detention officer.
The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining the integrity, safety, and security of the detention center and will continue to investigate and prosecute any criminal activity that undermines public trust.
“This case serves as a reminder that we will not tolerate criminal behavior within our detention center,” said Sheriff Jackie Rogers. “Anyone who violates the law and betrays the oath and trust placed in them will be held accountable.”
