Valarie Creech Potter
October 17, 1985 – August 9, 2025
Kinston-Valarie Creech Potter, 39, died August 9, 2025. Val was born October 17, 1985 in Lenoir County. She was the third and youngest daughter of the late Leslie Roger Creech, Jr. and Deborah Nethercutt Creech.
Val was raised and lived much of her life on the family farm at Falling Creek. As the baby of the family, Val was lovingly spoiled as a child. She and her sisters were close, and they had many adventures growing up in the country. There were four generations on the farm then and always something going on.
Val had a constant giggle and a fun personality. She acquired many friends through her outgoing, friendly way.
Her parents’ home was the place where the young people were welcome and gathered, and Val had many close friends who were pals for most of their lives.
She had an artistic side and enjoyed sketching, drawing and coloring. She enjoyed card and dice games, camping, boating on the river, and spending time with friends. She loved music. Valarie was a graduate of North Lenoir High School.
A memorial service to remember and honor Val’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Rouse Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service.
Val is survived by her son, John David Potter, Jr. of Kinston; her daughter, Sarahann Creech of La Grange; a sister, Leslie Kaye Creech Price of La Grange; her paternal grandparents, Roger and Cora Lee Creech of La Grange; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eldest sister, Ann Marie Creech Price is 2004.
The personal demons that tormented Val the last few years of her life are quieted for good now, and in splendid peace we are certain that she has been lovingly welcomed and embraced by the sweet arms of our Lord in a Heaven where there is no hurt, anguish, nor desperation. On earth, Val most certainly earned the wings that make her a new, beautiful angel, perfect in the eyes of God.
