Kinston Police Department: Arrest for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

On September 27, 2025, at approximately 8:59 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad responded to a report of a larceny.

The victim reported that he was in his vehicle with 32-year-old Bernice Williams when he pulled into a parking lot and stepped out of the vehicle. While the victim was outside, Williams slid into the driver’s seat and drove away.

A short time later, officers located the vehicle and Williams on Savannah Lane. She was arrested without incident and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

Williams was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where she was held without bond due to being on pretrial release at the time of the offense. The vehicle was safely returned to its owner.
