Traffic Stop Leads to Stolen Vehicle Arrest
On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at approximately 5:45 PM, Sheriff Jackie Rogers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and driving erratically on U.S. 70 near the NC 148 overpass. The vehicle was displaying a temporary paper registration plate.
Upon making contact, Sheriff Rogers informed the driver of the reason for the stop. The driver was unable to produce a valid driver’s license or provide registration documentation for the vehicle. A subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Virginia.
