Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Lenoir County
On Friday, October 17, 2025, Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle observed traveling over 70 MPH in a 50 MPH zone and operating in a reckless manner. The stop occurred on NC 11/55, south of Kinston.
The vehicle, occupied by two adult females, was pulled over with assistance from deputies assigned to the Patrol Division’s B-Shift.
During the investigation, a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Deputies located methamphetamine in the passenger area where Mrs. Melissa Taylor, age 40 of Lenoir County, was seated.
Mrs. Taylor was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lenoir County Detention Center. She has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and was issued a $2,500 secured bond.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Mrs. Stacey Mitchell, was cited for speeding and driving while license revoked.
