Kinston Police Department: Shooting Investigation – Arrest Made

On Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 1:29 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a report of shots fired in the 2200 block of Briarfield Road. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and located a residence that had been struck six times by gunfire. The home was occupied at the time; fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Through investigative efforts and the review of security video, detectives developed a suspect description. On August 21, 2025, detectives observed the suspect walking in the area of George Avenue and identified him as 19-year-old Demontrez Olds. With assistance from KPD’s C-Squad, Olds was taken into custody and transported to the Lenoir County Jail. He was charged with the following offenses:
-Attempted Murder
-Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling (6 counts)
-Malicious Assault in Secret (2 counts)
-Felony Carrying a Concealed Gun
-Injury to Real Property
-Discharging a Firearm within City Limits
-Going Armed to the Terror of the People
This case remains under investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
