Kinston Police Department: A message from the Chief of Police

A message from the Chief of Police:

"It is with deep concern and disappointment that I confirm a former officer of the Kinston Police Department has been arrested by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation in connection with an alleged theft. This matter is now under active investigation by the SBI, and we are fully cooperating with their efforts.

The actions alleged are not representative of the values, integrity, and professionalism that our department strives to uphold. We hold our officers to the highest standards, and when those standards are violated, we take swift and appropriate action.

The Kinston Police Department has conducted an internal investigation, which has resulted in the employee’s termination. We understand the gravity of this situation and the impact it may have on public trust. I want to assure our community that accountability and transparency remain our top priorities.

We will not be commenting further at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, but we remain committed to keeping the public informed as appropriate."
