Pink Hill Public Library Hosts 10th Annual Back to School Bash

Pink Hill Public Library Hosts 10th Annual Back to School Bash

By Lori Bradford, Pink Hill Public Library Branch Manager

The Color Your World Summer Reading Program is wrapping up at the Pink Hill Public Library after a very successful six weeks. We have seen an increase in participation this year with over 350 attendees at our weekly youth and monthly adult programs. Participants met weekly to engage in color-inspired art, cooking, and gaming activities. Our teens had a blast learning how to make balloon animals and trying their best at making tape cast art. The adults joined us for a class on how to pot flowers and a hands-on workshop for working with clay presented by special guests.

With all of the summer fun ending soon, the Pink Hill Public Library is getting ready to host the annual Back to School Bash. The event is returning for its tenth year and is a staple in the community. Students from the Pink Hill and surrounding areas are welcome to join us for this free celebration in preparation for the school year. We will be distributing school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis for elementary through high school students. There will also be staff present from the following agencies to provide resources and information for families: Community Connection, Lenoir Community College, Lenoir County Cooperative Extension, Lenoir County Health Department, Lenoir County Sheriff Department, Mediation Center of Eastern North Carolina, Migrant Education Program, Partnership for Children of Lenoir and Greene Counties, and Trillium.

This year’s Back to School Bash will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Come dressed for water play, as the Pink Hill Festival Committee will be providing a water slide for the event. There will be sweet treats, including cotton candy, snowcones, and popcorn, provided by Community Connection and the Migrant Education Program. The Back to School Bash is made possible by donations from the Pink Hill Ruritan Club, Two Dogs Pizza, customers and staff of Pink Hill Chiropractic & Pink Hill Wellness & Education Center, Pink Hill Festival Committee, and the support of local community members. If you are interested in making a monetary or supply donation or have any questions about library programming and events, please contact Lori Bradford at 252-568-3631.
