Stolen vehicle tracked via GPS leads to arrest in Jones County
On July 25, 2025, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad responded to a residence on Duggins Drive in reference to a reported motor vehicle theft. While officers were on scene taking the report, the vehicle owner was able to provide GPS location data showing the stolen vehicle’s location in Jones County, North Carolina.
Kinston officers quickly coordinated with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, who located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Alexis Adams of Kinston, refused to stop and fled from deputies. After a brief pursuit, Adams was taken into custody by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
Jones County authorities served the outstanding Kinston Police Department warrant for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Adams was booked into the Jones County Jail.
