Disturbance call leads to arrest at local convenience store

On June 17, 2025, at approximately 1:22 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad responded to a report of a disturbance at Sam’s Mini Mart, located at 1419 North Queen Street. The disturbance involved a verbal altercation between the store clerk and a customer.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with both parties. The store clerk requested that the customer, Nyviair Davis, 21, of La Grange, NC, leave the premises. Davis initially refused to comply but eventually exited the store.

Once outside, Davis attempted to unlawfully enter a marked Kinston Police Department patrol vehicle. Officers immediately intervened and placed Davis under arrest.

Davis was transported to the Lenoir County Jail and charged with the following offenses:

Attempted Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle
