Obituary - Elwood Eugene Tyndall

Elwood Eugene Tyndall, 80, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025. He was born in Lenoir County to the late Elijah Dallice Tyndall and Pauline Williams Tyndall on September 18, 1944.

He proudly served his country as a First Sergeant of the 82nd Airborne Division in the Army.

Elwood was a Captain of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department Detention Center.

Hunting and fishing were hobbies that Elwood loved to enjoy.

A man of the faith, he attended the Born-Again Ministries Church and loved to sing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Elijah (Boy) Tyndall and mother, Pauline Williams and sister, Linda Tyndall.

Elwood is survived by his wife; Elaine Rouse Tyndall of Fayetteville, daughters, Angie Arnette (Gary) of La Grange and Nora Walker (Dusty) of Fayetteville; sons, Gene Tyndall (Teresa) of La Grange, Elwood Tyndall (Dana) of Coats, and Clayton Tyndall of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Madison Gourley (Walker), Takhoma Walker, River Walker, Zack Tyndall, Olivia Jones (Dakota), Avery Ward, Drake Tyndall, Craig Tyndall; Three great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Tyndall (Debbie) of Durham; best friend, Terry Vause of Kinston, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 5th at 11:00 am-12:00 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with funeral services to follow, with Reverend Danny Durden officiating. Graveside Services will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, NC at 2:00 p.m.
