On May 10, 2025, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad responded to a request from the Beaufort Police Department to check the area of Walmart for a vehicle linked to an unauthorized use investigation.

Officers located the vehicle parked in the Walmart parking lot . It was occupied by two individuals—Justin Dixon, 37, of Newport, NC, and Sierra Willis, 21, of Beaufort, NC—who were asleep at the time officers made contact. Dixon was identified as the primary suspect in the Beaufort Police Department’s case.

Dixon was taken into custody without incident for multiple outstanding warrants and orders for arrest from Carteret County. During a search incident to arrest, officers recovered more than 10 grams of heroin from Dixon’s person.
