Obituary: Gwendolyn Faye Curtis

Kinston - Gwendolyn Faye Curtis, 86, passed away on Wednesday 3, 2025. Graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery in Kinston on December 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

Faye was born in Durham County on February 2, 1939, to Earl Morgan Fitzgerald and Margaret Mozelle Hunt Fitzgerald. She graduated from Grainger High School in 1957 and from Louisburg College in 1959.

Faye, a gifted interior decorator, real estate and design consultant, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of beauty, creativity, and inspiration. Her natural talent for transforming any space into something extraordinary was not just a career but her calling.

From an early age, Faye possessed an eye for design that could see potential where others saw only walls and floors. She combined her love of real estate with her passion for interiors, buying and restoring houses. Her projects were more than investments; they were works of art, each one reflecting her dedication and vision.

Faye found joy in attending the Furniture Market, where she delighted in selecting furniture and accessories that would bring her projects to life. She was widely admired for her natural talent in transforming interiors into spaces of beauty and comfort, in both the design and real estate communities.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Faye was deeply devoted to her family. She cared for them with unwavering love and took great pride in guiding and encouraging them to pursue success and live with integrity and ensuring that those she loved were on the right path in life.

Faye was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Fitz Gerald.

Faye is survived by her son, Robert Charles Curtis, Jr., and fiancé, Holly Griffin; daughter, Karen Curtis Albrecht; grandsons, Robert Charles Curtis III, his wife is Brittany Curtis , Blake Alexander Curtis, and wife, Brooke, Alan Charles Albrecht, and Aaron Curtis Albrecht; and great grandchildren, Boedi Charles Curtis, Lydia Blake Curtis, and Olsen Wayne Curtis; sister, Jean Carol Fitzgerald Cruz, and several nieces.

In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by a son, David Wayne Curtis, and the love of her life, Robert Charles Curtis.
