Obituary: Betty N. McDevett

Betty N. McDevett, 89, of Kinston passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aprill 11, 2024, following a decline with her health. Services were private.

Betty was born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina. She attended Kinston City Schools and Atlantic Christian College. She worked with Kinston’s Park and Recreation Kiddie Kamp for many years. She began working for Kinston City Schools in the mid 1970’s as a secretary. She loved her job at KHS. Betty formed many friendships with her colleagues and students.

After retirement Betty and her husband “Whiz” enjoyed spending time at their Dawson Creek residence where she enjoyed her neighbors, boating, and fishing.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue M. Bain (Michael), of Kinston; her son, Warren Mac Blount McDevett, Jr., of Beaufort; three grandsons, Jonathan Cameron Bain (Ashley), Evan Blount McDevett, and Ryan Evan Bain (Alexis) of Atkinson, New Hampshire; two great grandsons, Oliver Warren Bain and Grant Cooper Bain; sister, Barbara N. Harrison.

In addition to her parents, Wayne and Jessie Lee Williams Noble, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Warren B. McDevett; and her brother, Robert Wayne Noble.

The family would like to thank her extended family at Spring Arbor where she resided for several years and Gentiva for their services.
