Board advances one protest against mayor elect Kareem Moore and amended protest against council elect Les Lipford

The Lenoir County Board of Elections held preliminary consideration hearings Thursday for election protests filed against council elect Les Lipford and mayor elect Kareem Moore, both of whom won seats in the November municipal election.

The protest against Lipford, originally filed earlier in the week, was amended by attorney Sean Keenan. After review, the board voted to advance the amended protest to a full evidentiary hearing.

Two protests had been filed against Moore. The board denied one in its entirety. The second filing included several allegations, but only the claim questioning Moore’s residency within the Kinston city limits met the threshold to move forward. All other allegations in that protest were dismissed.

The board will schedule formal evidentiary hearings for the remaining allegations against Lipford and Moore. Dates have not yet been announced.

Amended Protest - LES LIPFORD
First protest - Kareem Moore
SECOND PROTEST - KAREEM MOORE
