The Lenoir County Board of Elections dismissed the protest filed against Kinston Mayor-elect Kareem Moore on Monday night after the protestor failed to appear for the evidentiary hearing. In a separate hearing, the board voted 3–2 to dismiss the protest against Council-elect Les Lipford. Two board members voted that the protest met the required standard, but the motion to advance it failed.
The Lenoir County Board of Elections held preliminary consideration hearings Thursday for election protests filed against council elect Les Lipford and mayor elect Kareem Moore, both of whom won seats in the November municipal election.

Preliminary Consideration meeting for the Election Protest filed against Kareem Moore and the amended Election Protest filed against Les Lipford will be held Friday, November 14th immediately after Canvass. County Canvass will begin at 11am.

The Lenoir County Board of Elections voted unanimously today to dismiss the election protest filed against Les Lipford, who had been elected to the Kinston City Council. The protest will not move forward to a full evidentiary hearing.

The 2023 municipal unofficial election results for the Kinston City Council race are in, and the residents of Kinston have made their voices heard. Incumbents Mayor Pro Tem Antonio Hardy, City Council Member Felicia Solomon, and City Council Member Sammy Aiken hoped to secure their seats for another term against opponents Les Lipford and Barbara Seaforth. Hardy, Solomon, and Seaforth secured a seat on the Kinston City Council.

Chris J. Suggs will join the Kinston City Council after getting the most votes in the race. Incumbent Robert Swinson IV will retain his seat on the Kinston City Council. Michael Martin came in third with Les Lipford and James T. Sparks, Jr. following.
