Charles F. Wade

December 4, 1948 – March 5, 2024

Charles F. Wade, Sr of Kinston passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was born December 4, 1948 to the late Mark and Fruzzie Gilbert Wade. The youngest of 12 he grew up on a farm and learned at a young age the value of hard work. He graduated from North Lenoir High School in June of 1969. After high school he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he was a communication specialist. He was stationed in Texas, Virginia, and Germany. During this time he made wonderful friendships that have continued throughout the years. After the military he attended LCC and received a certificate in Agriculture. For over 40 years he worked as a Farmer. During this time he had a hog operation, helped his children with 4-H livestock projects, as well as, raising row crops-including tobacco, cotton, soybeans, and corn. For 20 years he was a member of the Wheat Swamp Ruritan Club, where he served as President for one term. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Council and was also part of the United Methodist Men group, where he served in many different roles. He was also an Emmaus Pilgrim. Anyone who knew him, knew that he was an avid NC State fan. He was a member of the Wolfpack Club for 30 years and enjoyed attending basketball and football games.

As a father he was always busy helping his children with all of their extra activities. He was definitely a jack of all trades: from ball fields to dance recitals to play productions and many, many 4-H events, he always pushed his children to do their best. He carried this love over to his grandchildren…attending their numerous events and being a proud supporter.

A service of love and remembrance will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Committal with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
