Obituary - Sandra Cobb Grady

July 8, 1941 – December 14, 2023

Sandra Cathleen Cobb Grady was born to William Devereaux Cobb, Jr. and Nora Cathleen Cobb in Kinston, North Carolina on July 8, 1941 and was welcomed into her eternal home in heaven on December 14, 2023.

Sandra, known as Sandy to her friends, was a loving mother to twin sons, Daniel S. and Dean S. Grady and a fun-loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren, Josiah, Allison, Olivia, Parker, Sydney, and Brienna. She is survived by her three siblings, Billy Cobb, Phyllis Hess, and Kitty Harrell.

Sandra was a talented educator and piano instructor for over 40 years, having taught elementary school children in Massachusetts and Arkansas, and at one time teaching over 70 piano students in her long-time home in Fairfax, Virginia. Sandra earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling from East Carolina University.

Later in life, Sandra was deeply involved with several church and historical ministries, most notably WallBuilders. She was an ordained minister, traveling the world with ministry friends and hosting many people on tours of historic sites in Washington D.C. Sandra was a follower of Jesus and a loving friend to hosts of people from all walks of life. She loved her hobbies of cooking, art, and learning musical instruments, and she passed on her love of music to her sons and her grandchildren.

Sandra was preceded in death by her former husband, Sanders W. “Bo” Grady, who passed away in 2003.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 18, 2023 graveside at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange, NC. Sandra’s sons or siblings may be contacted for more information.

Flowers may be sent through Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange NC, which is caring for all funeral and burial arrangements. In lieu of flowers, if preferred, donations may be made to the Agape Center, 1159 Promise Land Road, Moneta, VA 24121.
