Humphrey seeking re-election to NC House

Humphrey seeking re-election to NC House

Last month, the General Assembly passed new district maps for Congress, NC House, and NC Senate. Not subject to the Governor’s approval, these maps are now law and will take effect for the 2024 Election. Voters across the state have been learning more about their new districts, and the candidates running to represent them.

On Thursday, Representative Chris Humphrey (R-Lenoir, Greene, Jones) announced that he will seek a fourth term to represent District 12 in the North Carolina House of Representatives.

“Following much prayer and conversations with my family, I’m thrilled to announce that we are running for re-election to continue serving the people of District 12 in the NC House,” said Humphrey, “Representing our neighbors and serving as their voice in Raleigh has been a tremendous privilege, and I look forward to earning their continued confidence in my re-election campaign.”

Using decennial U.S. Census data, the General Assembly is required by the constitution to redraw districts every 10 years. The new House District 12 remains exactly as it did for the 2022 Election – encompassing all of Greene, Lenoir, and Jones counties.

“We are immensely encouraged by everyone in our community who has reached out in support of our re-election campaign,” said Humphrey, “I’m excited to continue improving our community through economic development opportunities, infrastructure enhancements, quality education, and support for flood mitigation projects. I’m going into this campaign with a proven track record of conservative leadership in service to our district, and I remain committed to defending our values in the legislature.”

An Eagle Scout who was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, Humphrey has always been deeply invested in the community, possessing a strong work ethic and a passion for public service from a young age.

Humphrey was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2018. While in office, he has been an advocate for defending the Second Amendment, upholding Voter ID laws, safeguarding parental rights, and protecting our state from the harmful effects of flooding and other natural disasters.

At the start of the 2023 session, Humphrey was appointed by House Speaker Tim Moore to serve as Chairman of the House Committee on Insurance and Vice Chairman of the Committee on Disaster Recovery & Homeland Security. He was also appointed as a member of the Agriculture, Appropriations, and Health committees.
