Emily Garris has been chosen as Greene Early College Teacher of the Year 2021-2022. A graduate of East Carolina University, Ms. Garris has been teaching high school English for 25 years. She was the first English teacher employed at GEC when it was established, and has been teaching at the school the last 15 years. One of her teaching colleagues stated, “Ms. Garris has worked to make her classroom resemble pre-pandemic education as much as possible. She continues to implement engaging and innovative activities despite the many obstacles this school year has presented.”
