Obituary: Jimmie Carr Foss, Sr.

La Grange-Jimmie Carr Foss, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and steadfast pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving family. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Hightower officiating. The family will receive friends prior to service, from 5:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.

Local educator receives $10,000 scholarship

Christel Carlyle has received the Zora Ellis Scholarship from The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. The Honor Society for women educators promotes excellence in education and personal and professional growth of women educators. By providing graduate scholarships to members, the organization emphasizes leadership development for its more than 50,000 members in 17 countries.
