It appears the risk of severe weather today is decreasing.
Showers and a few embedded storms will overspread Eastern NC this morning. After a break in the widespread showers, additional scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop ahead of an approaching cold front from the west this afternoon.

Bonnie Holloman Boone, 98, of Lugoff, South Carolina, formerly of Kinston, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 2pm at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30pm at Edwards Funeral Home.
On March 4, 2024, at approximately 3:00 pm, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a shooting that had taken place near the 900 block of E. King St. Kinston, N.C. Officers made contact with seven young adults and juveniles, who advised that they were walking in the area, and they were approached by a group of males that initiated an altercation.
A cold front will bring showers and scattered thunderstorms on Wednesday. A few of the storms have the potential to become severe.
Officially on April 1, Lenoir Community College employee Susan Nobles celebrated 50 years of service at the College; however, the College celebrated her Thursday with a cookout and with the naming of the Lancer Baseball Scoreboard – the Nobles Scoreboard.

Loretta Loftus Morgan, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024. A celebration of Loretta’s life will take place on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share stories of her remarkable life. The family will receive friends following the service.
Audrey Coody Power, 85, passed away March 30, 2024, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, April 4th, at 2:00 p.m. at Queen Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 3rd, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
