Ruby Frances Davis Allison, age 90, left this earth in the early morning of Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Spring Arbor of Kinston following a brief illness. A service to celebrate Frances’ life will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, March 16th, at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. H. Powell Dew, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following the service at the church.

KPD Detectives with the Investigation Division were actively investigating a vehicle fire that occurred on 02/23/2024 and a stolen vehicle report that occurred on 02/25/2024.
Officers from C-Squad and the Violent Crime Action Team attempted to check out with two subjects for a trespass violation. When the offenders saw the officers, they fled on foot. Officers apprehend the offenders and located 2 firearms.

PINK HILL – The Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce announced the grand re-opening of the J. Melvin Jones Gymnasium. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 13th at 10am, the ribbon-cutting event promises to be a significant milestone for the community, celebrating the efforts and contributions that have revitalized this local recreational landmark.

Shirley Davis Poer, 75, of Kinston passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, March 8, 2024. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow.
