The offer to purchase is in the amount of Two Hundred Twenty Eight Thousand Dollars ($228,000.00). Notice is hereby given that prior to November 9, 2023, at 4:00 PM, any person may raise the bid by not less than ten percent (10%) of the first one thousand dollars ($1,000) and five percent (5%) of the remainder ($227,000). Therefore, the lowest acceptable upset bid is Two Hundred Thirty Nine Thousand Four Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($239,450.00).
Betty Lou Waller, 83, of Kinston passed away on November 2, 2023. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Westminster United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11:00 am.

On Saturday, October 28, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to UNC Lenoir in regards to investigating a sexual assault of a minor child that had occurred hours before. Investigators began following up on leads, and on Monday, October 30, 2023, warrants for Indecent Liberties with a Child were obtained on Calvin Holloway, 21, of Kinston.
On Monday, October 30, 2023, Investigators with the Kinston Police Department were able to obtain warrants on Donteon Foye, 22, of Kinston, for 1st Degree Murder in the shooting death of Jaliek Pridgen on October 18, 2023. Foye is currently in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Corrections, where he is serving a sentence for violating the terms of his parole.
A man was arrested Wednesday in the Jackson Heights community following a traffic stop that led to a foot chase.
Officers on D-Squad attempted to conduct a traffic stop with Curtis Croom for a motor vehicle violation. Croom failed to stop and attempted to flee from officers. Croom eventually stopped, jumped from the vehicle, and fled on foot. With assistance from Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, Croom was located in a wooded area and taken into custody. KPD's Violent Crime Action Team initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle for vehicle violations. As detectives attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to stop and accelerated to a higher speed. During this time the driver, Randall McNeal, was seen attempting to hide something.
