The Greene County Board of Elections on Wednesday, September 27 and Thursday, September 28 will conduct logic and accuracy (L&A) tests on voting systems that will be used in the upcoming municipal and sanitary land district election on November 7, 2023. L&A testing ensures each voting system will correctly count and tabulate each ballot cast.

At 7:20 Saturday morning, Lenoir County 911 received a call reporting smoke coming from a home at 715 W. Washington St in Kinston. Fire department personnel arrived on scene to find active fire conditions. Crews are still working to bring the fire under control. W. Washington Avenue and Dewey Street are closed to all traffic until further notice.

According to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, a Wallace man has been arrested for the murder of Anthony Harris of La Grange. “I would like to acknowledge the hard work by our investigators in this case,” Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers said. “They worked around the clock to make sure we caught the person who committed this crime. The residents of Lenoir County are lucky to have such dedicated public servants protecting them.”
Morehead City – George Saxon Parrott, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 2 pm at Westview Cemetery with Kermit Braswell officiating.
