Murrell Ray Broadway, 83 of Kinston was greeted by his Lord and Savior Monday, June 19, 2023 at the home of his eldest son. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor John Robert Harris officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery.

Traffic stop leads to arrest of Ayden man with stolen firearms and narcotics

Officers conducted a traffic stop with Dariontre Drew (22 of Ayden, NC). During the traffic stop officers observed narcotic violations and conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search officers located a backpack containing narcotics and 2 firearms. One of the firearms had been reported stolen from Ayden, NC. Drew is also a convicted felon and was placed under arrest for the following:

Twenty-year-old Travis Rouse of Snow Hill has a new job with a promising career in his future, and it all started at Lenoir Community College (LCC). Career Advisor Tracey Price met Rouse while he was attending High School Equivalency classes at LCC’s Greene County Center and thought he’d be a perfect fit for the NextGen, Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Program at LCC.

The Lenoir County Board of Education hereby gives notice that it plans to sell the property located at 500 Marcella Drive Kinston, NC 28501 (also known as the former TEACHERS MEMORIAL SCHOOL) via the upset bid process of G.S. 115C-518 and 160A-269.  The Board is seeking an initial offer to purchase from interested persons. A walkthrough of the property will be held Monday, June 26 at 9 am.
