After many months of discussion and consultation the Board of Directors of Pride of Kinston, dba Downtown Kinston Revitalization (DK), a 501c3 non-profit organization, has made the decision to list its ~26,000 sf Kinston Enterprise Center (KEC) for sale. The sale will be facilitated by Jess Edwards of Kinston Realty Group.

The Neuse Quilters Guild, a group of dedicated quilters, donated nearly 40 handmade quilts and blankets to the Kinston Police Department (KPD) on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023. The guild meets every Wednesday from 10-12 at Spilman Baptist Church on Madison Ave Kinston NC, and the church graciously donates the use of their facility for the weekly meetings.
Louis Henry Howard, 80, passed away suddenly at his home in Kinston, NC on April 10, 2023. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Woodington Ward with burial following at the Howard Family Cemetery.
Marie Ewell Spears passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at ECU Medical Center at the age of 97. A Graveside Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, 2 pm at Westview Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

A Lenoir County intersection is scheduled to become an all-way stop this week. The intersection of Hill Farm Road at Smithfield Way will be transformed into the new traffic pattern on Wednesday. Currently, drivers on Hill Farm Road don’t stop, so the N.C. Department of Transportation will install pavement markings and stop signs.
This Saturday, April 15, the CSS Neuse II will host its first “Breakfast on the Boat” for 2023. The Neuse II sits in dry dock at the corner of Herritage and Gordon Streets where it draws thousands of visitors each year.

On Saturday, April 8th, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred near the 15 building of Mitchell Wooten Apartments in Kinston. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, Michael Bostic (60), who was suffering from a large stab wound to the abdomen.

March 31, 2023, was a sad day for me and many others. My friend David Lee Mooring passed away a few minutes before 7 p.m. that Friday. Frankly, I was shocked. David had fought off so many illnesses during the past couple of years that I was sure he would emerge triumphant from his latest sickness.
