Stabbing near Mitchell Wooten Apartments leads to Attempted Murder charge

On Saturday, April 8th, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred near the 15 building of Mitchell Wooten Apartments in Kinston. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, Michael Bostic (60), who was suffering from a large stab wound to the abdomen. Initial investigation revealed that the suspect, Shirley Cannon (54), had stabbed Bostic after becoming irate. Cannon was arrested without incident and charged with Attempted Murder. Cannon was later placed in the Lenoir County Jail without bond pending further court proceedings.
