Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Major Ryan Dawson, who also serves as a volunteer firefighter with North Lenoir Fire & Rescue, responded to a fire call on April 29, 2022. While on the call, he experienced internal bleeding that medical professionals could not stop and he spent the next 23 days in and out of hospitals including Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington and ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

Local church spreads message of positivity to Lenoir County Public Schools during EOG testing

With End of Grade testing taking place, volunteers of Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church visited Lenoir County Schools to spread words of inspiration with signs carrying positive messages. “It is a blessing for us at Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church to encourage a few of the students and faculty at a couple of our Lenoir County Schools,” said Pastor Rogers.

Perry introduces Senate Bill to allow recall of members of Lenoir County Board of Education

On Monday, NC Senator Jim Perry (R-Lenoir, Wayne) introduced Senate Bill 767 to allow the recall of the Lenoir County Board of Education members. Prior to the introduction of the bill, Perry sent communication of his intent to the Lenoir County School Board and the Lenoir County Commissioners.

“What I'm not going to do is ignore the parents of our community when a significant number of them have reached out and expressed concern about their feelings of when their thoughts and concerns were dismissed and they had no system to address their grievances,” said Perry. “They felt ignored like they were not heard.”
