MasterBrand donated cabinets to Habitat for Humanity for a house in Lenoir County to be installed this week.

“We are extremely thankful to MasterBrand for their generous donation to our Lenoir County Build 2022 project,” said Matthew Whittle, Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro-Wayne Executive Director.

The house is on McCaskill Drive and will belong to the Lane Family, Beatrice Lane and her three children, Aniya aged 16, Omari aged 11, and Dantrell aged 2. The goal is for the house to be ready and the family moved in by the end of June.

“MasterBrand Cabinets Kinson location is excited to have the opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity on their Kinston, North Carolina build supporting the Lane family,” said Brooke Burkett, MasterBrand Product Engineer II.

Whittle and Lane toured the MasterBrand factory and had the opportunity to see where the cabinets were made before giving Lane the chance to pick out the style and color of her choice.

“Communities need, and deserve, support from local businesses in order to thrive,” said Burkett. “This is why community service is integral to MasterBrand’s core beliefs. We contribute to many national and local organizations through both financial and non-financial means.”

MasterBrand has partnered with United Way, Boys & Girls Club in the past. The Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce connects them with many other fundraising opportunities.

“Because Habitat is a hand up and not a hand out, and because our families are not only helping to build their homes through their sweat equity, they’re also buying them at affordable mortgages, it’s always meaningful when we see that moment when it all starts to become real for the homeowners,” said Whittle. “For Beatrice, I think that was several weeks ago as the siding was going on the home, but with sheetrock done inside and cabinets being installed, I think that feeling is really going to hit home.”
