On February 24, 2022, Jackie Rogers filed to be a candidate for Lenoir County Sheriff. Last night, the voters of Lenoir County made their choice, naming Rogers as their sheriff-elect. With more than 30 years in law enforcement, Rogers platformed on making Lenoir County a safer place to live and raise families.

The NC Network for Fair, Safe and Secure elections is pleased to note that more than 2.1 million people (including 819,553 Democrats, 673,117 Republicans, and 649,483 Unaffiliated) have voted in NC during the early voting period, at 359 polling locations, without any major incidents or disruptions. Following a contentious meeting in October that resulted in Mayor Mike Hill resigning, along with the clerk and the assistant clerk of Pink Hill, a meeting was held on Tuesday night to select a mayor to finish out the term Hill was serving.
The citizens of Pink Hill will be voting on a Mixed Beverage Referendum to decide whether or not to permit the sale of mixed beverages in hotels, restaurants, private clubs, community theatres, and convention centers and the ‘on-premises’ and ‘off-premises’ sale of malt beverages and unfortified wine in qualified establishments. This referendum can only be voted on by registered voters of Pink Hill on Election Day, November 8, 2022.
Voters that use early voting, or by-mail ballot, will have the opportunity to go to their precinct on Election Day, November 8th, to receive the ballot that contains the Mixed Beverage vote.
Article I, Section 35 of North Carolina’s Constitution has a pertinent reminder as we head to the ballot box. Article I is the “Declaration of Rights,” and Section 35 reads:
Lisa Byrd is a Jones County girl who, along with her husband, own and operates their family business called Byrds Towing. Byrd is an active member of Maysville Fire and EMS where she serves as the treasurer. She started communicating with the Jones County Board of Education in 2019 as a concerned parent, and in 2022 she’s on the ballot for a seat on the board.

Originally from Seven Springs, he has been a advocate for growth and change in Greene County and would like to inject new visions and ideas to help further the quality of life of the citizens of Greene County. Michael Chastain hopes to be the next Lenoir County Commissioner representing District 5 (Contentnea, K5, K6, and K7). He retired from the US Postal Service in 2018 with 33 years of service. He worked the graveyard shift, which allowed him to work a part-time job with the Kinston/Lenoir County Parks & Recreation Department where he taught gymnastics. Chastain still does some work at Fairfield Recreation Center and with substitute teaching. Serving is in his blood.
