Plato Collins Barwick (P.C.), Jr, 87, died peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025 at The Cypress Glen of Greenville. A visitation with family will be held Friday evening, May 16, 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kinston Country Club. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 17th at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 800 Rountree St, Kinston, NC with Rev. Tom Warren officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in St. Francis Garden at St. Mary’s Church.
It is with heartfelt remembrance that we share the passing of Diane Rosso Whitehurst, 77, of Raleigh, NC, who left this world on April 22, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. A funeral Mass celebrating Diane’s life will be held at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church on Thursday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Tom Elitz, SJ. A visitation will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Diane’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Arey Wilson Grady Jr. was born on October 9, 1949, in Goldsboro North Carolina to Arey Wilson Grady Sr. and Martha Ernestein Grady. He is now reunited with them in Heaven as with his sister Sue Mungo. He is survived by his loving (and patient) wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Grady, and his sons Arey Wilson Grady III and James “Punk” Grady and his wife Whitney Grady. Arey was a proud grandfather and was lovingly known to his five grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Thomas, Caroline, and Eliza as “Bud”. He is also survived by his sister Laura Cutherbertson and nephew Lee Percise and wife Megan Percise. A service celebrating the life of Arey Grady will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Kinston at 3 PM Sunday, May 4th.
Edna Earl Daughety King, born on December 25, 1931, passed away on May 1, at her home. She was surrounded by her children and family. A lifelong member of Armenia Christian Church, she loved her church family dearly. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made payable to Armenia Christian Church.
H. Louie Eargle of Waxhaw and Kinston, NC, passed away September 1, 2024, in Chapel Hill of complications from a fall. He was 92 years old. Louie will be remembered as a loving uncle, an accomplished musician, raconteur, and loyal friend.
Mary Ann Sparrow, 74, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Westview Cemetery at 1:00 PM with Pastor Chris Turner officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery 30 minutes before the service.
A beloved son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, Pop, uncle, teacher, and coach, Jesse Clifton “Cliff” Edwards Jr. 32°, age 77, of Oakboro, formerly of Kinston, went to his heavenly home on April 13, 2025. Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle is serving the Edwards’ family. Visitation will be at the Oakboro Community Building/District Park, 423 South Main Street, Friday, April 25, 2025, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. The Celebration and Memorial Service, officiated by Reverand Jonathan Waits, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the Fellowship Hall located behind the First Baptist Church of Oakboro, 322 N Main St., Oakboro, NC 28129.
Rita Gayle Nagle Nance, 75, passed away on April 12, 2025, at her home in New Bern, NC. A graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Alma Loraine “Rainne” Murillo, 70, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 3, 2025. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 2 P.M., at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, NC.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Ray Hussey who peacefully departed this world on March 30, 2025 at the age of 84. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Armenia Christian Church, with visitation after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Armenia Christian Church in his honor.
Carol Davis Gardner, 80, left this Earth on March 28, 2025 to be reunited with her soulmate, Larry, in the kingdom of Heaven, where they will spend eternity together at long last. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, at 3pm, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 712 Airport Road in Kinston, NC, and the memorial service will follow at 4pm. The family will hold a private service to scatter her ashes at a later date.
La Grange-Jimmie Carr Foss, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and steadfast pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving family. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Hightower officiating. The family will receive friends prior to service, from 5:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.
A worship service of thanksgiving to God for Bob’s incredible life will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday March 29th, at Calvary Memorial UMC, with burial at the Snow Hill Cemetery following. Friends and family are invited to gather in the Fellowship Hall from 12:30-1:45 to share memories, swap stories, and take a picture or two.
Bernice Dail Johnson, 91, was graciously received into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2025. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Ham officiating. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following the service.
