Our precious MawMaw was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Linda was an angel on earth. Tanglewood Church will be having a separate memorial service in Kinston at a later date and details will be posted as they are finalized.
David Michael “Mickey” Williams of Columbia, South Carolina passed away on Sunday October 9, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 1:00 pm in Westview Cemetery. Rev. Doug Stokes of Gordon Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
Ronald Durwood Rouse, 72, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church, 2101 N Herritage Street Kinston, NC 28501. The family will receive friends at the church following the service, and anytime at the home.
Arthur Hope Shackelford, 87, formerly of Kinston, died peacefully on October 2, 2022, in Tarboro. While he began his career in journalism and communications for the Goldsboro News Argus and then the N. C. Bankers Association, he built his career in retail sales as owner of Canady’s and later at JCPenney in Kinston. For many years, he was an active member of the Kinston Rotary Club where he led the music, was a past president, and was a Paul Harris Fellow.
Seven Springs - Lannie Nell Harper Smith, 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. A service of love and remembrance will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service. Committal will follow at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church Cemetery.
Earl Franklin Greene Deep Run Earl Franklin Greene of Deep Run died peacefully on September 21, 2022, at the age of 100 surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held at Pink Hill Funeral Home on September 24, 12:30 pm, followed by funeral service at 1:30 pm officiated by Pastor Dave Fishman.

A service of love and remembrance with military honors will be held by the graveside at Westview Cemetery on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Harris officiating. Samuel Allen Dawson, Sr., 64, of Goldsboro passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in the chapel at Garner Funeral Home. Suzanne Howard “Sue” Noble, 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Greendale Forest in Snow Hill. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Pink Hill Funeral Home, with visitation following the service. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
Michael Lee Hildebrandt, 58, passed away on August 10, 2022. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 4:00 PM at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
Leo Edward Tutak was born in Racine, Wisconsin on December 10th, 1939 to parents, Leo Aloysius Tutak and Harriet Teresa Tutak (nee Skowronski). He died on August 17th, 2022. Rosary will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Mary Cathedral, followed by visitation until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, Father Dennis Faker presiding. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
Robert “Bob” McCain, 87, died Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Duke University Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 19, at 1:30 PM at Westminster United Methodist Church, 1001 Westminster Lane, Kinston.
On Thursday, August 4, 2022, Mitchell “Mitch” Cooper, 66, passed away in his home, surrounded by his beloved wife and faithful dogs. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022, in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Kinston, NC. Visitation will begin at 10 am with memorial service to follow at 11am and will be officiated by the Rev. Karl Grant.
Frances Barnes Allen, 92, of Kinston passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster United Methodist Church, 1001 Westminster Lane, Kinston, NC 28501.
Bobby Coombs, 86, also known as “Blue Nose” of Kinston passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022. Visitation will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 21, 2022, with funeral services to follow at 12 noon.
Burial to be held immediately following service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Martha Inez Queen Barrett, 91, finished her course in faith and was graciously received into her Lord’s presence on Friday, July 15, 2022. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home in La Grange. A graveside service will be held at a later date from Clover Hill United Methodist Church in Lawndale, NC.
Jerry Dean Houston, Sr., 80, of Wanchese, NC died on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Peak Resources – Outer Banks. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Evergreen Memorial Estates, 5971 Dudley Road, Grifton, NC 28530 with Benny O’Neal officiating.
