A memorial service will be held at Grace Fellowship Church in Kinston, Tuesday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation and a celebration of life will be held immediately afterwards at the Kinston Country Club.

Charles Earl Smith, 58, of Kinston passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Garner Funeral with Evangelist James Burkett officiating.
Mary Louise Ikner Harper Boone, 94, of Kinston passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Greendale Forrest in Snow Hill. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Garner Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Brother James Tyndall officiating. Burial will be held following the funeral service at Westview Cemetery.
William “Willie” Boyd Stroud Jr., 56, of Kinston, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Lynwood Jones officiating. Visitation will be held following the funeral service. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Trenton City Cemetery.
Lena Edith Philyaw Jenkins, 91, of Kinston passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Garner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jimmy Horne officiating.
Mrs. Perry Delano Winstead, 62, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019. A memorial service will be held at the La Grange Church of God on Saturday evening at 6:00 pm.
Morris W. “Pete” Pully, 96, died Thursday, January 10, 2019. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at Gordon Street Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in La Grange.
Forries Lincoln Dawson, 89, of Kinston, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Forries was born February 12, 1929 in Lenoir County to the late Edwin Dawson and Ollie Benton Dawson. A time of visitation and fellowship will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 12-1 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m.
Rev. Daniel Brian Cromer, loving husband, father, brother and pastor, was welcomed home into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Dan was born on January 13, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky to William R. and Lois S. Cromer, who preceded him to heaven. A service to celebrate Dan’s life will take place at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church, 601 W. Madison Street, Kinston, North Carolina, on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 2 p.m. Family will greet visitors in the church fellowship hall following the worship service.
This is the story of Charles Wesley Smith, Sr, which begins in the year 1912. No, Charles was not yet in this world, but without the union of his parents, Quincy Adams Smith and Mamie Irene Croom Smith, this story would never exist. They married at the home where Charles was born and raised, along with his fifteen siblings. When there are sixteen children to care for, everyone was responsible for the other. This responsibility created the foundation of his steadfast love for his entire family.

TRENTON | Jackie Clyde Wilson, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Ervin was born in Martin County on November 17, 1941. He was the son of the late William Samuel Rogerson, Jr. and Addie Lee Rogerson Van Nortwick of Williamston, North Carolina. The family will receive friends for visitation at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Kinston located at 711 Phillips Road on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.
Manley Eugene “Gene” Wilson, 73, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018. Gene was born September 14, 1945 in Lenoir County to the late Ben Wilson and Therian Mallard Wilson.
George Earl Everett, 76, was called home to his Heavenly reward on Monday, December 31, 2018. George was born April 23, 1942, in Lenoir County to the late Fred R. Everett and Katie Sutton Everett.
LA GRANGE | Egbert Marcus Herring Jr., 89, passed away in the early morning hours of December 28, 2018. Egbert was born November 20, 1929 in Lenoir County to the late Egbert Marcus Herring and Nora Becton Rhodes. Egbert’s wife of 70 years, Grace Carlyle Herring, preceded him in death on September 22, 2018.
Shirley Singleton Sorrell, 78, of La Grange, passed away on December 25, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, after a brief illness.
