LCPS honors top Teacher Assistant and non-instructional Staff Member of the Year

Lenoir County Public Schools is proud to announce the recipients of its Teacher Assistant of the Year and Non-Instructional Classified Staff of the Year awards. Selected from a talented pool of nominees across the district, Salisa Cobb and Andre Clark were surprised with the exciting news on Monday, February 24, when a celebration squad visited their schools to share in their moment of recognition. 

Lenoir County Deputies Safely Remove Suicidal Man After Hours-Long Standoff

A suicidal man who barricaded himself inside a home near Woodington Middle School was safely removed by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies Thursday night. After more than two hours of negotiations, Special Response Team members entered the residence and found the man barricaded in a bathroom. He was safely removed without injury and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Sheriff Jackie Rogers praised his team for their professionalism in handling the situation.

Snow Hill Primary awards Terrific Kids

Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards.  Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal.  On Fridays, these students are presented with an award and are congratulated for their hard work.  Below are Snow Hill Primary's last Terrific Kid Awards!

Southern Bank named Forbes’ Best Bank in America

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C., February 21, 2025 — Forbes has named Southern Bank the Best Bank in America.  The 16th annual America’s Best Banks list assesses 200 publicly traded banks, and this year the top spot  went to Southern Bank, which has more than 60 branches across North Carolina and Virginia and $5  billion in assets.
