Greene County School Board Vice Chairman selected as special guest for Presidential Address
U.S. Rep. Don Davis has selected Brandon Johnson, vice chairman of the Greene County Board of Education, as his special guest for the President’s Address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.
During a press briefing, Davis praised Johnson’s leadership, dedication to education, and service in law enforcement, emphasizing his commitment to the community.
“When you see Brandon, I believe you’ll see the future of Greene County and the future of Eastern North Carolina,” Davis said.
Johnson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, crediting his faith and the support of his community.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to have been selected to accompany Congressman Davis,” Johnson said in a statement. “I give praise and glory to Jesus for allowing me this opportunity of a lifetime.”
Johnson also noted the significance of a representative from rural Eastern North Carolina being recognized on a national stage.
“I believe it’s important,” he said. “A person from rural Eastern North Carolina making their way to D.C. is a big honor. But I know that Congressman Davis is committed to Eastern North Carolina, and here I am serving on the school board as well.”
The President’s Address to Congress serves as a platform for discussing national priorities, and congressional guests often reflect issues or individuals of significance in their districts. Johnson’s selection highlights his contributions to education and public service in Greene County and beyond.
