TRENTON – The Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Civil Rights Amendments are coming to Jones County thanks to the combined efforts of the County, working with Foundation Forward, Inc. of Burke County, NC. These founding documents, known as The Charters of Freedom, are being permanently installed at the Jones County Civic Center, located at 832 NC Hwy 58 South, Trenton, NC 28585.

Itamar Tejada, a 12th grade student at Lenoir County Early College High School, got quite the surprise when members of the district’s senior leadership team showed up Wednesday morning with balloons and an award with her name on it.
The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation. If you are a democracy-loving high school student interested in a $35,000 college scholarship or a patriotic middle school student interested in winning $5,000, these scholarships may be for you.
The Caswell Center Foundation recently presented a $60,000 check to the Lenoir Community College Foundation Scholarship Program to assist students interested in pursuing a degree in developmental disabilities and health-related fields.
The Greene County 4-H shooting sports team traveled to the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC, to compete in the Eastern Regional Shooting Sports Tournament on Saturday, August 24. Fourteen of the team members qualified for the 4-H State Tournament on Saturday, September 14, at the Millstone 4-H Center and will compete against other youth from around the state.

Lenoir County has received the second-largest grant in North Carolina through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, securing $448,465 to upgrade its EMS fleet with state-of-the-art powered cot systems. The advanced equipment, designed to improve safety and response times, is part of a nationwide effort to enhance emergency services, with only one other NC county receiving more funding.
Mary Alphin, the Lenoir County Clerk of Superior Court, has dedicated over 15 years to the Clerk's office, a career rooted in a strong sense of duty and passion for serving the public. Alphin assumed her current role after the retirement of former Clerk Dawn Stroud, who believed Alphin was the most qualified candidate to succeed her.

Kinston/Lenoir County Parks & Recreation, in conjunction with VisitKinston, is pleased to announce the 2024 USTA NC Tri-Level State Tennis Championships, arriving in Lenoir and Greene counties on September 19-22, 2024. These championships will bring over 500 adult tennis players to our counties and surrounding areas over the course of four days.
