Early College class witnesses inner workings of courthouse
Sophomores in the Civic Literacy class at Lenoir County Early College High School were witnesses when they went to the Lenoir County Courthouse – witnesses to the workings of the county sheriff’s office, the clerk of court’s office and district and superior courts.
Kinston woman arrested, charged with Abduction of Children
KPD officers responded to a Kinston residence in reference to an abduction of two juveniles. The juveniles had been previously placed into foster care by DSS and were living with foster parents. The investigation revealed that the juveniles biological mother, Kimberley Westbrooke (34, Greenville, NC), had violated orders and abducted the children from their foster home.

Pink Hill Town Clerk resigns amid controversy and claims of harassment
Pink Hill — The Town of Pink Hill has been grappling with a series of significant events that have led to multiple resignations, most recently that of Town Clerk, Lisa McGee. The sequence of upheavals started with the sudden death of former Mayor Carol Sykes and has since seen a string of departures and confrontations, culminating in McGee's resignation. McGee cites harassment and false allegations from Commissioner Pete Fantini as the primary reasons for her decision to step down.

On Friday, October 20, 2023, with assistance from community members, quick action from officers, and help from our newest recruit K-9 Knox, Ralph Nobles was apprehended in a wooded area near the 100 block of S. Orion Street.

On Thursday, October 19th, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department were able to obtain warrants for the arrest of Devonte Cantey, 23, of Kinston, for the shooting of Tabias Williams and Tamir Cobb.
