Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. Arendell Parrott Academy student, Killen Harper, a semi-finalist for the NCSU Park Scholarship. At graduation, Killen will have completed 11 of the 15 AP courses offered at Parrott. She is a member of APA’s SERV club.

On 01/09/2023, the Greene County Sheriff's Office arrested 34 year old William Ray Jones of Kinston. After a months long investigation Jones was charged with First Degree Statutory Rape, Statutory Rape of a Minor less than 15 years old, Sexual Act by Substitute Parent/Custodian, and Indecent Liberties with a Minor. Jones is currently being held in the Greene County Detention Center under a $650,000 secured bond.
A double 18-wheeler accident at the corner of Queen Street and Highway 70 has closed the roads to traffic in all four directions. The Kinston Police Department, Kinston Fire and Rescue, and the Lenoir County Emergency services are on scene.
