The Lenoir County Health Department (LCHD) received confirmation from the North Carolina State Laboratory that another raccoon has tested positive for rabies. The animal was located in the Wyse Fork area of Lenoir County.

On Friday, March 4th, North Lenoir Volunteer Fire & Rescue took delivery of 48 smoke detectors from the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal. The smoke detectors were donated as part of the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Smoke Alarm Canvassing Grant, a program designed to reduce fire deaths and injuries in high-risk fire areas.
