October 20th was a special Wednesday at Parrott Academy as students and teachers marked the National Day on Writing sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English. Teachers. Students in grades 6-12 created displays throughout the school to showcase the variety of ways that they use writing, both practical and creative.

The Tuna Relay returns to Jones County on Friday, Oct. 22 - Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 with runners on local roads beginning at 10PM through 10:00AM. The Tuna Relay /70 starts at the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department at 3:30AM on Saturday, Oct 23.

As COVID-19 cases surged this summer fueled by the Delta variant, hospitalizations and deaths among residents in North Carolina long-term care facilities were significantly lower than during the winter surge, as shown in data from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The decrease in cases and severe illness can be attributed to vaccination for residents and staff of long-term care facilities and to the work done by long-term care providers to implement measures to protect staff and residents from COVID-19.
