Two Junior Master Gardeners promote recycling at the Lenoir County Extension Office

Junior Master Gardeners (JMG) Jackson Tuller and Eli Tuller placed recycle bins in the workroom, kitchen, and employee break room in the Lenoir County Extension Office. Jackson and Eli reached out to Tammy Kelly, Director of the Lenoir County Extension office to get her approval for the project and to determine the needs of the office for recycling bins in order to satisfy one of the eight leadership projects required for the students to complete certification as Junior Master Gardeners.

BREAKING: Manhunt in Lenoir County

A vehicle chase through multiple jurisdictions led to a manhunt in Lenoir County, near the Felix Harvey Parkway, Monday night. The wooded area in question is near Felix Harvey Parkway, Crestview Subdivision and Hickory Hills Road.

The wanted suspect is Kenneth Earl Piper of Wilson. He is a white male, 29 years old, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds with brown dreadlocks and tattoos on his face above his eyebrows.

Sen. Jim Perry Op-Ed: PPP - I support small businesses

NC State Senator Jim Perry (R - Lenoir, Wayne) issues an op-ed on how the State of North Carolina should handle tax liability associated with the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). “The State of NC shouldn’t think about these extraordinary events through the lens of normal operations. We shouldn’t saddle business people with a surprise state tax liability just because they helped distribute federal stimulus dollars to the people of North Carolina. I worked with Senator Chuck Edwards and Senator Dave Craven to file Senate Bill 104 requiring that NC not burden small business owners who participated in the Paycheck Protection Program.”

Wood Ducks release 2021 schedule

Earlier today, Major League Baseball (MLB) announced the 2021 schedules for all 120 Minor League Clubs. AAA clubs are scheduled for a 142 game season with all AA, High A and Low A clubs scheduled for a 120 game season. A feature of the 120 game seasons is that all series will be 6 games. In addition, all series will start on Tuesday and end on Sunday, so the Wood Ducks are scheduled to play 20 6-game series with 10 of these at home and 10 on the road.

St. John FWB church groundbreaking ceremony

Under the leadership of Pastor William F. Hudson, Kinston’s St. John FWB Church had a ground breaking service for their new facility. The ceremony started with a prayer and reading from the scripture by Hudson. In attendance were the church members, city and county officials, and the Trustee Board. The new facility will be built in the same location.
