DEEP RUN — The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a resident of the county was shot late Wednesday afternoon.
The animals at the Lenoir County SPCA enjoyed a Christmas dinner of chicken, sweet potatoes and green beans and were treated to a toy as a present. Each year the members of the Lenoir County SPCA board, staff, and volunteers get together on Christmas day to be there for the animals who do not yet have a home.
RALEIGH: Earlier this month Governor Roy Cooper signed an Executive Order authorizing the North Carolina ABC Commission to permit the delivery or carry-out of mixed beverages as an alternative to on-site consumption. This Order is effective December 21, 2020 at 5:00 pm through January 31, 2021.

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City continues to anticipate a strong cold front, which will affect the region later today (Christmas Eve) into Christmas Day. The main impacts continue to be severe weather in the form of damaging wind gusts and tornadoes, minor to moderate coastal flooding, and strong gradient winds with the potential for power outages.

"A Queen Street Christmas" has been a favorite event for many in Lenoir County and the surrounding area for 18 years. To prevent the loss of another event this season, members of Queen Street United Methodist Church worked tirelessly to create a virtual event to share for the Christmas season. Today, Governor Roy Cooper shared an important COVID-19 update for Christmas. Santa Claus is exempt from the Modified Stay at Home Order and will be able to carry out his delivery duties on Christmas Eve.
Nearly $30 million will go to fund 18 broadband infrastructure projects with a goal of connecting 15,965 households and 703 businesses in rural North Carolina to high-speed internet, Governor Cooper announced Thursday. The grants are part of the 2020 Special Supplementary Round of the Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) Grant program and will be distributed through the N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) Broadband Infrastructure Office (BIO).
