LCC Announces its Cultural and Performing Arts Series for 2023
The Lenoir Community Foundation is announcing its Cultural and Performing Arts Series for 2023 with the first production of Loves Bites, an evening of anti-romance at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 in the William I. Herring, Sr. Culinary Arts Center located in the Waller Building on LCC’s campus. This is a one night only event that you won’t want to miss.

South Lenoir High senior named a Goodnight Scholarship finalist
In December, the people administering the Goodnight Scholarship, a full-ride merit scholarship designed to bring top STEM-directed students to NC State University, sent out invitations to apply to 900 high school seniors. Zaire Garner of South Lenoir High School got one of those.

Miss Neuse Scholarship Pageant Organization announces 2023 pageant
The Miss Neuse Scholarship Pageant Organization is pleased to announce the 2023 pageant will be held February 25 at Kinston Lenoir County Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. Reid Taylor will serve as director for the 44th year. Mandy Odom is the choreographer and Diane Howard serves as Pageant Chairperson.
Golden LEAF Foundation awards $1 Million to Lenoir Community College
The Golden LEAF Foundation Board of Directors announced a grant award of $1 million to Lenoir Community College for training equipment and professional development to support aviation programs and a new Aviation Center for Excellence at the North Carolina Global TransPark.
LCPS strives for grant funds to replace E.B. Frink Middle School
In previous years, the Needs-Based Public School Capital Fund Fund Grant structure prohibited Lenoir County Public Schools from using both lottery funds and grant funds to replace E.B. Frink Middle School. It required all districts who were awarded the grants to return all lottery funds for the period of the grant. In LCPS’s case, it was five years.

North Lenoir Voice of Democracy winner Abbigail Doyle
Abbigail Doyle competed in the NC VFW voice of democracy competition. She is a senior at North Lenoir High School and one of 17 state finalists. Her essay and speech was selected as a winner by the local vfw post. She was then selected as the district 2 winner for the state.
Woodington eighth grader three-peats at spelling bee
Wesley Vernon three-peated as winner of the LCPS Spelling Bee last week and credited his having been in the district-wide contest twice before – and having won both times – with making his third appearance a little easier.
